Empowering Women and Preserving Tradition: The Story of Sainik Handloom

Since 2005, Sainik Handloom has been dedicated to empowering rural women artisans, giving them a stronger voice and greater autonomy over their lives. By enabling these skilled women to earn a livelihood through their craftsmanship, Sainik Handloom uplifts local communities while showcasing their talent on a global stage—exporting garments and home accessories worldwide.

At the heart of Sainik Handloom’s work is Kantha, an ancient Bengali textile art celebrated for its intricate stitch-work, vibrant patterns, and deep cultural heritage. Passed down through generations, Kantha is a living tradition, with each artisan adding her unique touch. Sainik Handloom honors and preserves this artistic legacy by creating authentic, hand-stitched Kantha quilts, garments, accessories, and more.

Founded by Umesh Singh, Sainik Handloom is a true community-driven initiative. Umesh personally sources high-quality materials from villages across India, focusing on the eastern regions renowned for their rich textile traditions. His passionate leadership ensures each piece’s authenticity and sustainability, while also promoting global appreciation for this remarkable craft.

Today, Sainik Handloom empowers hundreds of women artisans, providing meaningful opportunities and helping to keep the spirit of Kantha alive for generations to come.
